cant recommend these enough

I think this series of titles is fantastic. A fun romp down memory lane. Wow, was Raw sketchy back in the early to mid-90s. I still have a lot of these gems on random tapes / dvds, and its all out there on Youtube and the WWE site, so its a fun ride-along as you riff through the book. Even if not its surely going to bring back some memories, some laughs and groans. And there was good wrestling stuff buried in there too! I look forward to further editions on the Raw shows, and the other stuff this group puts out on Coliseum videos and other wrestling-related fodder. And the price is right on the Kindle for all of this. Great stuff and i raise the glass in a toast.

Great concept, funny guys.

This is such a great concept--reviewing every RAW!

The author's are very funny and it makes for a great trip down Nostalgia Avenue. They provide great humor in addition to some great tidbits. I found it was a great resource to iron out some of my old memories and getting to know the plethora of jobbers was a hoot.

My only problem, and indeed it is MY problem, is that whenever the authors (they take turns reviewing months) don't like or care of a certain wrestler, they'll certainly let us know. And know again. And again. And remind us again. And again. And did I mention that they'll mention how much they hate a guy?

Don't get me wrong, that's of course their right as the authors. They're doing all the watching after all. But it gets tedious to read how much they hate Crush, or Yokozuna, or Tatanka, etc. especially when I personally don't agree with them. At least on some of their takes. Ordinarily, I would be fine reading a differing opinion. But since a handful of guys they don't like keep cropping up almost every week (IRS, especially), I stars to make for a less fun read. In fact, I bought the 1993 and did enjoy it. I borrowed the 1994 version from Prime and had to return it a quarter of the way through because of the continuing rants against the same handful of people. Reading about how much they didn't like guys became just as painful as what they felt watching the same guys they hated. But while they certainly got their frustration through, it quickly stopped being a fun read FOR ME.

Most people probably won't have the same problem as me, and most people probably will agree with them. But I've always had a soft spot for these lovable midcarders like Men on a Mission and IRS so it just became a chore, even though I was getting a great kick out of the concept, and largely, the rest of what they were doing here.

Still, I quite enjoyed 1993 and maybe someday with a better frame of mind I can go back to 1994 and the rest. The authors are really funny and they really did a heck of a job considering the daunting task.

Great stuff just in need of some Yoko love

Great stuff, although I definitely think you guys are a bit harsh on Yokozuna. Sure he wasn't much in the work rate department, but he carried the heel side of the card throughout the year in the main events.

About the Author

Cengiz Gunes is the author of The Contemporary Kurdish National Movement in Turkey: From Protest to Resistance (London: Routledge, 2012). His main research interests are in identity and nationalism, peace and conflict studies and the international relations of the Middle East.

Welat Zeydanlioglu is the coordinator of the Kurdish Studies Network and the managing editor of the peer-reviewed journal Kurdish Studies. He has published several articles on the Kurdish question, state violence as well as on the politics of nation-building and modern Turkish and Kurdish history.

An Author's perspective

Why did I decide to write another book on rhinoplasty surgery and is it different? The most fundamental reason is that I am dismayed at how many younger surgeons are electing not to do rhinoplasty surgery due to its perceived complexity. Therefore, I spent the last 3 years trying to simplify the teaching of this surgery. I have designed an approach that will allow surgeons to expand their comfort zone and eventually master rhinoplasty surgery. It should be noted that Mastering Rhinoplasty is a Second Edition in name only. Over 90% of the text and case studies are new, only the basic anatomy and aesthetic drawings remain the same. A few highlights of the book -

In Chapter 2, a fundamental rhinoplasty operation is presented which can be expanded in a progressive sequence from easier to more difficult cases allowing the surgeon to do 95% of primary cases, while operating within their comfort zone. At the end of each chapter, there are sections on "decision making" and how to progress from Level 1 to Level 3 cases.

Rather than using DVDs to present 2 or 3 cases in depth, the author has integrated 141 live surgery video clips through out the book allowing the reader to learn surgery in the operating room rather than in the library. For each surgical technique there is integrated text, drawings, intraop photos, and live surgery DVD clips to improve learning and to facilitate review the night before surgery.

Tip surgery is emphasized throughout the book, especially open tip suture techniques and tip refinement grafts. The operation is shown with each step superbly illustrated. The results are documented in a wide range of patients from thin skin Caucasians to thicker skin Hispanics and anatomically demanding Middle Eastern patients.

The text is logically laid out and lavishly illustrated. The chapter on Functional Factors includes a detail approach to all of septal surgery, ranging from caudal septal relocation to total septoplasy. The chapter on Grafts is encyclopedic and includes multiple methods of harvesting rib grafts and provides a step by step guide to using diced cartilage grafts.

The central core of the book are four chapters - two on advanced primary rhinoplasty and two on secondary rhinoplasty. In each case, the first chapter details surgical techniques with emphasis on a progressive technique while the second goes through decision making using a case study format.

The final chapter is entitled Aesthetic Reconstructive Rhinoplasty and deals with extremely complex cases which often require rib grafts. The technique of composite reconstruction is presented in depth emphasizing the deep foundation layer and the overlaid aesthetic layer. Applications are illustrated in septal saddle collapse, cocaine noses, cleft cases, and failed implant disasters.

Conclusion: Mastering Rhinoplasty is the best single volume book available on Rhinoplasty Surgery. Whether one is a resident learning the basics or an experienced surgeon seeking the most advanced techniques, the first step in mastering rhinoplasty surgery is to buy this book.

Excellent reference

I am a Plastic Surgeon that has recently finished residency training. This booking is an excellent reference. The layout and approach of the author is superb. The illustrations are very informative as well. The book has redefined how I look at rhinoplasty patients and is giving me an edge in my practice.

Good Book but Amazon service disappointing.

The text is fantastic ..But i was unable to open the videos associated with the text. In spite of sending reminders to amazon they have not solved the issue at all. I have even request them to send me a separate link for the videos but they have not done so.
the text is incomplete without the DVD...I am really upset with Amazon.

About the Author
Beth Hurst is an assistant professor in the College of Education at Southwest Missouri State University where she inspires new generations of teachers to create joyful learning experiences for their students. She has also authored numerous articles and gives presentations to show teachers how to maintain their enthusiasm in the classroom. Ginny Reding of Pleasant Hope Middle School, has been a classroom teacher for nearly twenty-one years and has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. In addition, she authored a weekly column, Reflections from the Heart, for an Oklahoma newspaper. This column encouraged readers to reflect on the joys and overcome the adversities of everyday life.

When I came home from my very first day of teaching, I ran in the door, hugged my husband, and thanked him for encouraging me to go back to school to get my teaching degree. I told him that I would be at that school for the next 30 years. Four years later, I came home from school, fell into my husband's arms in tears and cried, I quit. I could not believe I had come to this point so quickly in my career. How could I keep it from happening again? This book provides the answer to that question.

Need a faculty book talk? HERE IT IS!!

I bought copies of this book for our elementary staff for a book talk, and the teachers rated it the best ever!! Every theme, every anticdote that Beth and Ginny share strikes a cord with teachers, new and old. The stories they share, the quotes they provide, the entire book is a wealth of reminders of why teachers chose their vocation! Another BIG plus are the activities they suggest at the end of each section. Good common sense ideas that "light the bulb" in even the most veteran teachers. These gals know about teaching, and have given a wonderful window into the profession.

It Opened Up My Eyes and My Heart

When I saw the book on the island in the kitchen, I knew that it was intended for me. Never mind that it had David's name on it; I was going to read this book. Besides the name of the book and the names of the authors, the cover also stated that the book was designed to help teachers discover and recover the joy of teaching. That was something I needed to do. Believe me, the book lives up to everything that is printed on the cover, and much more. This is not the typical teacher resource book. This book speaks to the soul of the veteran teacher. It helps one dig deeply and find the glowing embers that sparked the journey to become teacher. There is also something for the preservice teacher. At the end of each chapter, the reader will find suggestions that will help him/her incorporate things from the chapter into his/hers teaching life. There is also a list of ideas just for the pre-service teacher. So, go ahead and get this book and find yourself again. Hats off to Beth and Ginny. This book is a job well done!

Great gift for teachers!

I purchased this book for the teachers at my son's school as a teacher appreciation gift from the PTA. They loved it! The librarian cataloged it in the school library. The principal even used excerpts from the book for his weekly teacher newsletter. I highly recommend this book.
